Hello, everyone! I have nothing to write about today, and I read <Tuck Everlasting> in Korean, so I’m going to write about <Tuck Everlasting> today. (+Differences between Korean Ver. and English Ver.)
Difference
Mae shoots the Man in the yellow suit in the English Version, but she hits the Man in the yellow suit with a gun in the Korean version.
Miles and Winnie do catch a fish in the English version, but Winnie lets the fish go in the Korean version.
What is life? Many people ask themselves. ‘Life is to enjoy’, many people say. Life has a strange element called ‘Time’. Time is strange because if you use it on a good thing, you are happy, but otherwise not. In the book, <Tuck Everlasting>, the Tuck family get to live an eternal life. Is this a blessing or a curse? I believe that eternal life is a blessing.
First, it is because you get to do many things. This is because, of course, you get endless time. Because you have endless time, you can have time for the rest of your life, not having an end. There is a movie called <The Bucket List>. This is about two people about to die when they are old, and they make a bucket list of what they want to do before they die. This movie states that there are a lot of people who want to do things in their life but unfortunately can’t. This supports the idea that you can do more things.
Second, you will never die. This is also like in the book, <Tuck Everlasting>. Mae Tuck then says “I can never forget it”. What does ‘it’ mean in this sentence? It means eternal life. And what is the author’s purpose of this statement of Mae? In this situation when this statement is said, Mae is worried that she will die at jail. But when Angus says to her, “You can not die, thus you will not die”. This is Angus saying to Mae to remember that she will not die even at jail. Like this, if you have eternal life, you will not have to worry about dying or getting injured. For example, there was when the Tuck family was making a house from wood. Then, even when Jessi fell off the tree, he did not get a slight scratch. Same for when Angus cut his finger or when he shot himself in the heart.
Third, you can not change your physical appearance. This is because your physical appearance does not change if they drink the water from Treegap. That is why Jessi is 104 years old in the novel. This can be an advantage. This is because it is better:
When you meet Anne in a small room with a button that can make me crash any moment.
When you are a random child (at least you look like one because you drank the water even if you are like 1000000 years old) VS When you are a random elder (you are 1000000 years old and you look like it)
You will probably not die if you drink the water. Why? Because Anne said so at PEAI.
Eternal life, do you still think it is a curse? If I ever get to find water that lets you live forever, I will definitely drink it without any doubt.
Comment: in the introduction, you have to write the three reasons, not only your main idea.
