Heat, the new terrorist who killed 27 people, injured 2200 people, and...

Did you realize that it’s so hot outside? Just on wednesday, (8/1) the tempreature reached a whopping 38.6 degrees. I feel it so annoying that whenever you try to go outside, it’s like your melting, and one step feels like a mile because it’s so hot. Now, if the only problem was that people got annoyed by the hotness, then the titile of this blog post would be something like “Annoying heat” But, no the problem isn’t just that people are annoyed, it’s that people actually die, and get injured because of the heat. For probably all of us reading this blog post, we can actually afford a air conditioner, so you probably won’t die becasue of the heat. However, the rest of people who cannot afford air conditioning, then you have to imagine living in a house that is 35 degrees, and you open the window for fresh air, and the “fresh air” is 38.6 degrees.

Most people get killed or injured because of something called heat stroke. It’s like a normal stroke (no, not the stroke in swimming, the stroke when you fall unconscious) but it’s a condition marked by fever and often by unconsciousness, caused by failure of the body's temperature-regulating mechanism when exposed to excessively high temperatures. At least, that’s what wikipedia says. And it’s not only 1 or two people dying, it’s 27 people dying, and over 2000 people getting injured. I, last week got affected by the heat, but luckily not so severely. But, the experience is still terrible. You wake up, and you’re fine, for like a second. Then, your head suddenly hurts, and you start to get really dizzy, then, you feel like you’re going to puke. The way to relive this sickness is to eat food and get hydrated, but at that point, that’s impossible, because if you eat, you feel like you’re going to puke even more. If that’s just becasue of a night’s sleep under the sunlight coming in throught the window, then it’s pretty hard to imagine what would happen to the people living in those conditions for 24 hours straight.

And, as if the heat hadn’t caused enought damage yet, there’s more “good” news, the heat, warped train tracks, delaying trains for a lot of people, and also, made huge cracks in the road.

As you can see, the crack isn’t just a little dent in the road, in fact, it’s a gigantic crack. So, the unbearable heat didn’t just kill and injure tons and tons of people, it damaged roads, and train tracks. Also, if the train tracks are damaged, this would lead to trains not being able to pass, stranding tons of people that traveled by train.

So, what can we do? Well, I don’t think that we can do anything much to help. I mean, I don’t think that 5th grade kids can just magically get rid of heat, fix train rails and roads, and stop people from dying. But, what we can do, is not get heat stroke, or get injured by the heat. I think that drinking plenty of water and avoiding outdoor activity should do it. I sure hope that this heat will go away soon (and hopefully never return) , because heat is one of the things that no government can stop the coming of. (Unless that government just happens to have a few trillion batteries , and a few million air conditioners lying around) Then, you’ll all be set to survive the heat apocalypse, untill the batteries all run out.
