Hi guys! This blog post is about the awesome book I read called 'Among the hidden'. A person named Margaret Peterson Haddix wrote this book. This book’s setting is in the future when the author predicts that there will be too many people in the world and the government will make a population law that says that people are only allowed to have two children. However, the main character, Luke is a third child and because of this, he is hidden always by his parents to avoid detection by the population police. The population police are basically police that is there to enforce the population law. His parents are very cautious about him and he has never been allowed to go out of the house. However, Luke wants to go out and see the world. Then, one day he notices that there is a kid in the house next door although the house is supposed to be empty because the family left. When he goes exploring in the house, he finds a girl named Jen who is also a third child.
There is more to the story, but summarising more would spoil the book so that's the end of summarising the basic plot of the story. The part that I thought was funny about the book was that before Luke met Jen and got Jen's house raided by the population police, his brothers used to fool around with him by roughly knocking on the door and saying "Population Police! Open up!" However, what's ironic is that when the house is raided by the Population Police, they say the exact same thing and bursts down the door.
