Frindle

Hi, this is Greene. This book is about Nick making up a new word for the word pen.

He calls it frindle. Nick was in fifth grade when he decides to never use the word pen again, and instead use the word frindle.

Nick’s friends were agreeable about using the new word frindle, but the teachers in Nick’s school were not. Mrs. Granger made everyone stay after school if they used the word frindle.

Eventually, Nick became very famous, and everyone recognized Nick. But after a couple of weeks, everyone forgot about it, except for Nick.

When Nick was 21 years old, Mrs. Granger sends him a letter saying that she knew that the word frindle couldn’t be stopped, and how she decided to play as a villain. So on Christmas Eve, Nick donated a million dollars to Mrs. Granger’s trust fund. He also wrote her a note saying that she was one of his favorite teachers. With the note, Nick included a gold fountain pen.

I thought that it would be nice if I could make up a word like Nick. I usually know the main plot of the story even before I read the whole book, but it was surprising that Mrs. Granger was actually not the villain. Nick was very thoughtful to donate a million dollars for Mrs. Granger, after he realized that she was actually helping him. This book is one of my most favorite books, and I recommend it a lot.
