Geronimo Stilton #48

Hi Guys!!! I'm Chaewon !!! Last time, I loved the Geronimo Stilton { The Phantom of the Subway}.

The story was very very fun and hooky. Did you guys try reading it? Well, I enjoyed the book very much, so I decided to read another book about it!!! This time, the book title was called 'Geronimo Stilton { The Mystery in Venice }'. In my opinion, this story was a little awkward. But at the same time, it was funny. I'll start from the top.

Geronimo had just came back from a trip to Switzerland. Now, he was getting the 'jet lag'. A jet lag is something that happens to rodents when they travel by the plane and cross from one time zone into another. Your body clock feels like it's one time, but the local clock says it's another. It makes your insides feel like curdled cheese. First, your head gets heavy, then your eyes begin to close, then your stomach gets upset, and then your tail droops. Plus, the worst thing is that at night, your body thinks it's still morning, so you can't fall asleep! He went back into his house. While he was taking a bath, the phone rang. So Geronimo went outside and answered with a grumpy face. But a sweet voice answered. It was Petunia Pretty Paws, " the rodent of his dreams". He thought she was asking to go out on a date. But it turned out he was invited to go shopping! And Thea and Bugsy Wugsy, Petunia's pesky niece was with her.

At the end of shopping, Petunia bought Geronimo a gondola. It was the ugliest the he'd ever laid eyes on. At home, Geronimo was wondering where to put the gift, but Trap marched in and accidently broke the gondola. But Trap didn't apologize, because he didn't feel sorry. At first, Geronimo was furious. But later, he found a letter in the gondola. It read " Help! Save me! I can't m". The rest had water on it, so he could not read it. But he was sure someone needed help, and he had to be the one to save her. so the adventure began.

Geronimo rode the plane to Venice. But the lady in pink polka-dot hat, who sat next to him, thought Geronimo lived in Venice and said he want her destiny. She began to follow him where ever he went. Geronimo Stilton freaked out. After a long long period of time, he finally lost sight of that lady. Now, he started his investigation. He went into a gondola shop to search, ( since the letter was in the gondola). But then the owner, Sharpwhisker, asked if he was here for the apprentice position. Just then, Stilton realized the sign that read " APPRENTICE WANTED". He thought that this is a good way to investigate and said yes to the man's question. Later on that day, he heard someone cry. It was coming from upstairs. Geronimo went up and met a girl named Hope. She was the one who sent the letter. It was because Sharpwhisker was her uncle and he wouldn't let her marry someone who was bad at making glass gondolas. So Geronimo decided to help her.

Geronimo had heard about the gondola race from the owner, Sharpwhisker. So Stilton went to him and made a deal. It was that if Geronimo won the gondola race, the owner had to let him do what he wanted. He was planning to get Hope marry who she wanted to. Sharpwhisker approved his deal. But to win, Geronimo needed help. So he called Thea, Trap, Petunia, and Bugsy to come to venice and help. He also called his nephew, Benjamin. When they arrived, Geronimo first told them about everything that happened. Thea and Petunia thought it was very romantic. So the 6 mouses practiced really hard. Finally, the competition day arrived. Everyone got ready. But Geronimo's team were soon in last place. But then, Stilton heard a voice. IT WAS HER! THE RODENT OF HIS NIGHTMARES!!! Geronimo was horrified. Right then, he felt a surge of energy shoot through his body. He began to row so hard his paws seemed like windmills. At last, the WON!!! But Petunia gave him a strange look. She asked Stilton who that lady is and why she is calling him darling. Geronimo didn't know what to do and just said that he doesn't really know her.

But the lady came up the stage. She said " You can't run anymore! I have to kiss the winners- that's the tradition! Plus, you said you were going to marry me, right, my little Venetian FUZZY FUR?!" Petunia frowned. " I thought you said you didn't know her, G," she said, sniffing and looking hurt. So Geronimo decided to tell. He said to Petunia " I don't know her. She's been following me since I arrived in Venice, and she's got it in her head that she wants to marry me!" Then he turned to his admirer and explained calmly. " I'm sorry, I don't want to marry you miss. I'm very flattered, but I don't even know your name. Also, I'm not from Venice. I am from New Mouse City on Mouse Island". The lady looked disappointed. Then she said to forget it if he's not from Venice. She turned to Sharpwhisker and asked where he's from. He said that he's 100% Venetian. The lady got excited and told him that he's the rodent of her dreams. Both fell in love. Geronimo went to the owner and talked about the deal. Sharpwhisker asked what he wanted. Stilton told him to let Hope marry who she wanted to. The owner approved. And so it was a happy ending. I enjoyed this book a lot.
