Hi Guys! My friends told me that it snowed on Thursday at like 2:00. I did not see it but did you guys see? I wish it snows a lot this year.
Recently I read a book called ‘Great Expectations’. It was written from Charles Dickens. He is a very famous and important England writer. He wrote many good books and he is one of my favorite writers. He was very poor and had to work for 10 hours from when he was young. His books are written about his young life. The main character in this book is Pip, an orphan who is seven years. He lives with his elder sister and her husband Joe. One day, Miss Havisham, a spinster who wears her old wedding dress gives money to make Pip visit the house. Pip falls in love with her adopted daughter Estella but Estella acts aloof and hostile to Pip and Miss Havisham likes it that way. When Pip grows up and tries to become a gentleman. During that time, his pureness disappears and he turns in a very snobbish person. At the end of the book, Pip and widowed Estella meet at the ruins of Estella’s old house and she asks Pip to forgive her. She says that misfortune made her to open her heart. Pip and Estella holds each other’s hands and live the ruins when the moon above them and he sees no shadow of another parting from her.
Charles Dickens is trying to explain all the bad parts of the England society at that time. When he realized about the terrible society a little too early because he was very poor, he explained it in a way that everyone could understand. The main character Pip experiencing the pain of love, living with no answer, and his desire to rise in status is alike to all of us who wants to have more joy. This book was very hard but, it was also fun to read about all the things and secrets around them all connect. It also explains about the simple topic ‘love’. If you did not read this book, you should read it.
