Did you know, that people with Samhainophobia are actually afraid of Halloween? Whether it's because of other phobias related to Halloween, like Necrophobia, or because of religious beliefs, or other things, people with Samhainophobia are actually afraid of Halloween.
There are a lot of other facts about Halloween, but these are seven facts about Halloween.
1. Jack-O-Lanterns are one of the main things that come to mind if you think about Halloween. But, is the Jack-O-Lantern that you're thinking about, made out of turnips? Well, the first Jack-O-Lanterns were actually made out of turnips!
2. Calling someone a "witch" is a pretty bad insult. But, the word "Witch" actually comes from the Old English "Wicce", meaning “wise woman.” In fact, "Wiccan" were highly respected people at one time. So, a long time ago, calling someone a "Witch" might have been a friendly compliment.
3. Trick or Treating might have come from "Souling", which is a medieval Christian custom, that involves the poor going to houses, offering prayers for the dead, in exchange of something called "Soul Cakes".
4. According to Irish legend, Jack-O-Lanterns were named after a stingy man named Jack who supposedly tricked the devil several times and had to wander around the earth, waving a lantern.
5. People believe that Halloween was made in Ireland. (Read #4 again and find "Irish")
6. Many countries (like Korea) Korea does not celebrate Halloween.
7. Halloween is believed to be over 6000 years old!
