Anyway, I read this book called ‘Nineteen Eighty-four’ which is also known as 1984. It is a dystopian novel which is about a frightening and undesirable government. It was written by George Orwell and it was published in June 1949. It is set to the year 1984 when most of the world population became victims of the perpetual war or the endless war, global surveillance, and propaganda which is government saying wrong things. Their country was ruled by Oceania and the ‘Thought Police’ stopped individualism and independent thinking. The leader of the ‘party’ that rules the ‘Thought Police’ is the ‘Big brother’ who may not even exist. Winston Smith, who is a party member and a very skillful worker, secretly does not like the party and plan for a rebellion. He rebels by making a secret relationship with his fellow employee Julia. But he gets caught by the ‘Thought police’.
When I first read this book, I was really mad about the way that the government ruled. I would hate when the government start to restrict everything that I have, even what I think. Loving someone is something that is not weird and everybody have the feeling of love in their minds. It does not make sense that the government is restricting something that even they have. Also I was really sad when the main character Winston Smith get caught by the ‘Thought Police’. I can’t even imagine me living in that kind of place.
This book contains very good detail so I recommend you to try reading it.
