I read this book because the picture on the front of the book looked interesting. There was a goldfish out of the fish bowl drawn on the cover.
Eleven-year-old Melody has a great photographic memory. However, the doctors and her family doesn’t think she is smart. Melody can’t talk, walk or write even she is a grown up kid. Being stuck inside her head makes her go out of her mind.
In this writing, I will talk about a specific passage in the book Out of my Mind that is memorable to me. The passage is:
Thoughts need words. Words need a voice.
But I’ve never been able to tell them.
By this passage I got to understand the point of view of a baby. Most of the people think that babies are too young to think about anything, but this story tells us what a baby thinks in certain situation. It was funny that the author wrote a baby as a main character. I think the author is considerate woman and understands babies very well. Also, it was amazing that the baby already knew how to think, read letters, and was smart as a grown kid.
