Have you ever wore a school uniform before? Well, I have and my experience of school uniforms was terrible. Although some may believe that school uniforms are needed, I believe that school uniforms are not such a good policy because of their very overpriced cost, it restricts kid's indivisuality, and children do not even like them. htem

First, school uniforms cost a lot. According to a study, school uniforms cost an average of 270 dollars. For example, if the school uniforms changed every season, that would mean that you would have to pay about 1000dollars to the school while just wearing ordinary clothes wouldn't cost as much. Also, school uniforms would restrict people that cannot afford school uniforms. A lot of smart people's talents would be wasted. Also, according to a newspaper article from a company called the telegraph, many schools were accused of overpricing the school uniforms. What this means is that if a set of school uniform's original wost was 100 dollars, then the school would sell it at about 300 dollars. Although some people might claim that school uniforms may stop bullying and crimes at schools, this is absolutely not true because According to a peer-reviewed study found that "school uniforms increased the average number of assaults by about 14 [per year] in the most violent schools." This evidence clearly proves that school uniforms do not do any good in preventing crime and instead it does the opposite.

Secondly, school uniforms restrict people's individuality. Most students like to represent themselves in the clothes that they wear. However, making kids wear the same clothes as everyone else would restrict their ability to represent themselves. Clothing choices are "a crucial form of self-expression," according to the American Civil Liberties Union of Nevada. Also, school uniforms result in Bullies from other schools to target kids wearing these uniforms. Some might say that without school uniforms, kids would wear inappropriate clothes to school and this would result in chaos, etc. However, if that is the case, instead of making kids wear only one kind of school uniforms that they do not even prefer, dress codes could solve the problem. Dress codes are rules that prevent kids from wearing inappropriate clothes and also let kids represent themselves freely in a good way. Some examples of dress codes could be that " no in-appropriate clothing on school grounds"

More importantly, Children that are wearing school uniforms oppose them. According to a reviewed study by researchers at the University of Nevada at Reno found that 90% of seventh and eighth-grade public school students did not like wearing uniforms. So, this means that most children's parents are spending tons and tons of their money on overpriced school uniforms that their child doesn't even like. How would you feel if you were forced to wear only one type of clothes that you didn't even want for about a year?

In conclusion, I believe that school uniforms are not a good policy because they cost a lot, kids don't even like it, and they restrict kids' freedom. Although people might say that school uniforms are very essential because it helps kids focus, I think that it is a policy to rob parents of their money. Why would you like to buy a very overpriced uniform that kids don't even like and which depletes kid's ability to represent themselves?
