Hi! This is Jason and I will be introducing this book I read to you. The book I read is called the city of ember and I think that it is a really cool book. But before I provide you with a short summary, I will first tell you about the author. The author’s name is Jeanne DuPrau and according to Wikipedia, she was born in California. Basically, this book is about a boy named Doon and Lina. The story starts out in the city of Ember. The city of ember is underground, but no one knows that. The people who built the city, called builders supposedly put the secret of Ember in a box and locked it up and told each mayor to pass it down and they also told them that the box would someday open and they would find out the secret. However, when it was the seventh time to pass the box, the mayor failed to give the box to the next mayor because he was too lazy and therefore, the important box gets hidden somewhere. That’s how the story basically starts.
The thing that I think that I thought that was funny about this book was that because the people of ember had only used the items that the builders had given them, they did not know the meanings of very obvious words. For example, the characters spent a long time wondering what matches and ladders were. In my opinion, I think that the author did a really good job in telling the readers how unique life in Ember might have been like.
So, I guess that this is the end of my introduction of this book. I think that this book is a really well written book. Also, I found out by looking at the back of the book that there are actually three more books to the story. Also, there is a movie for this book. Although the front part might be a bit boring, I think that this book is defiantly a book that I would recommend you to read.
