Tom's Hut

Hey Guys!!!!! I'm Chaewon. For this week, I read a book called { Tom's Hut }. This story is about owners and slaves. One day, a man named Hailey visited a man named Shelby. The two of them talked about slaves. Hailey persuaded Shelby to sell some of his slaves to him. But Shelby didn't want to. But he got persuaded by the man and signed the contract. Meanwhile, Eliza, one slave over heard the two men's conversation. She could not just let his husband and child get sold away. So she made a very hard decision. At midnight, Eliza escaped her owner's house with her child in her arms. Her husband already headed to Canada. It was a really hard way. Her shoe slipped off, and her socks ripped. But finally, she and his son arrived at Tom's hut. This story explained the life of slaves, how hard it is for them to live a life like this. So I believe that each and every slave must be freed. It's really unfair for us to live comfortably while they don't. We're all the same human being, so we must be treated equally.
