Most of you might know about Typhoon Soulik, because either your school was cancelled because of it (yay?!), or you heard of it in the news that it already hit jeju island, damaging tons of houses, boats, etc and was going to hit seoul soon. Well, as most of you know, it didn’t even get near seoul. It just veered off course and is headed towards Hawaii now.
The damage that the typhoon dealt in korea was pretty large. It wrecked boats, broke windows, made houses collapse, made street signs collapse, etc. But the funny thing about this typhoon was that the weather forecast didn’t exactly help much. I mean, it helped, people prepared for the storm, and managed to prevent a lot of damage, but the weather forecast was mostly wrong. For example, the weather forecast said that the storm was to hit at 3:30 (P.M, obviously!) exactly at jeju island, so my school ended at 3:30 However, it turns out that the typhoon hit at about 10:00. So, it was like the weather forecast was telling you about this huge typhoon that hit while there isn’t even a slight breeze. But the weather forecast was right about the ferocity of the typhoon. It did a lot of damage like (insert two images)

The second time that the weather forecast was wrong, was as all of you know, when the forecast said that the typhoon would strike seoul. However, instead of the typhoon striking seoul, it just veered off. But, I’m not saying that we should make the weather forecasters pay a fine or anything, I’m sure the weather forecasters tried their best, but the typhoon was just strange. I wish that there will be some devices made in the future that can predict typhoons accurately, so that there will no longer be this kind of mishaps, when the weather forecasters predict wrongly, and everyone gets a false alarm, and next time when there is a actual typhoon, people will be a little more suspicious about whether it might be another false alarm.
