In this world, there are people who have disabilities like being blind and having paralysis or having no arm or leg. However, these days, there are solutions for them. This blog post will tell about what the society does to help people with disabilities, and how animals help people too.
First, there is the braille block. You might have seen them on the streets, those yellow blocks on the middle. This is for the blind people to feel on and go on. When I was young, I never knew this was a thing for the disabled. I just thought it was some random yellow blocks in the middle of the streets for me to step on and have fun. It didn't have such a deep meaning to me.
Second, there is the matter with the bus. In the past, people who were in wheelchairs couldn't go on a bus. But these days there are buses that have ramps. This enables the people in wheelchairs to get on buses easily. This is the same with apartments and houses. Also, there is the seat for old people, women with babies, and people with disabilities. They have handlebars low so the people can balance themselves, and have the buzzers low too.
Third, the parking space is different. When you go to the parking lot in some places, like the mall, there is a blue mark of a person riding a wheelchair or a pink mark of a woman. This means that the place is saved for those people. This is another act of respecting those people's rights.
Fourth, the bathroom is separated. In the mall, there are bathrooms that are divided into 3 parts. The 2 parts are, of course, the men and women bathroom, but there is also a bathroom for the disabled too. It's very large for the people with wheelchairs and handlebar for them to keep balance.
Last, even animals help people. For blind people, there are dogs, normally called, guide dogs. The dogs, normally Golden Retrievers, lead their owner on the streets where danger is. However, there are restaurants that don't allow dogs, even guide dogs and that is an issue. Also, there are monkeys. Where are monkeys used for? As you saw in the CNN 10 2018.10.8, monkeys can help people with mobility impairments. They pick up objects on the floor like phones and remote controls, screw a cap off the bottle, help someone to drink, turn pages of a book, and most of all, they become a good friend for those people. That is the same for the guide dogs too.
There are many people who need our help in the world. Although some of them may need special needs, it's a good thing that there are other people who give help.
