• A sad, but fun other book from Marissa Meyers, the author of the "The lunar chronicles".

• Before you read this story, I tell you that there are a lot of "However,"s.

This story starts with a girl called Catherine making lemon tarts for his father, the King. Yes, Catherine is a princess. However, she is not thinking about being the new Heart queen; she wants to make her own bakery and sell her handmade foods. Sadly, her parents are NEVER thinking about those ideas; to them, princess, their daughter Catherine Pinkerton is a beautiful girl who gets proposals and goes to balls. Like all day, she goes to meet the King, but actually sees the joker, Jest, and falls in love with him. Oh, the King was just to stupid to make Catherine fall in love with him. However, like always, Catherine's parents want Catherine to marry him.

But Catherine hates him; so instead of meeting the king at a deep night, she escapes out of her room and goes on a walk with Jest, seeing cool magics.(Lovely♡) However, while the lovely walk was going in the woods, a scary monster "Jabberwock" comes into the castle. The parents, who were very worrying about Catherine, quickly puts her in bed when she comes back.

(I will skip the middle, but only say the important parts you need to know)

When Catherine's best friend maid gets caught by "Peter the pumpkin eater", Catherine finds out that his wife was the Jabberwock(I was shocked, I mean really) and quickly makes her escape. When Peter finds out that Catherine, Jest, and the three sick sisters (owl, red fox and a racoon.) had made her escape, he tries to kill them. When Catherine was about to die, Jest gets in front of her and gets killed instead. (Noooooooo My favorite character T T ) Catherine REALLY gets shocked.

At the end, Catherine's heart is broken almost in half, full of blackened ashes and dust, which became like that because Jest was killed. Since now Catherine has no heart, she really acts (Catherine DOESN'T die. This is fantasy after all) like a heartless doll. Before this, the three sick sisters bring Peter to Catherine, under the condition that they will get the queen's heart so they can get better. And to Peter, she says "Off with his head."

Dis you guess? If you guessed "Alice from Wonderland", you are right! It's a book about How the Queen of hearts got a bad mind and said "Off with it's head!". I very recommend this book if you like romance, it's like Romeo and Juliet.
