Did you know that KBO (Korea Baseball Organization) has stopped the games until 8/9 and is going to reopen on 8/10? The reason for that is first, COVID issues. There were confirmed patients of corona in the team NC Dinos, and later on, Doosan Bears. KBO decided to stop all games until August 9th.
At first, they let the games go on except for NC Dinos, Doosan Bears, and the teams they were supposed to match. NC was supposed to play 3 games with Kiwoom Heroes, and LG Twins with Doosan Bears. LG had all games canceled that week because, before Doosan, LG went to Busan for 3 matches with Lotte Giants, but all three got canceled from the rain. It must have been a strange week for them. LG’s Director/Coach Ryu Ji-Hyun said that he worried that the player’s practical sense would fall and the players will not try hard if they play a short game on the team.
But as a few more confirmed cases came from the team NC and Doosan, KBO decided to stop the league temporarily.
There were also cases that the players didn’t follow the COVID restrictions. It was found out that NC’s Park Suk-Min, Park Min-Ooh, Lee Myeong-Gi, and Gwon Hee-Dong didn’t obey the rules! So, they won’t be able to play in 72 coming games and have to pay a 10 million won fine. There are 70 games left in the season, so they aren’t coming for the rest of the games. Wait, but they might come to the postseason. Oh… too bad. But it is not bad for me, a LG fan. I mean, the four players are quite good, and without the strong players, beating NC might be easier.
Additionally, I think LG can think of this break as a chance to win the season, which they hadn’t done for 27 years (I know, surprising). LG’s captain Kim Hyeon-Soo can recover from his hamstring injury and then return to his regular baseball ace self. Cha Ooh-Chan, too. He’s a left-arm pitcher and had good results at the first game when he came back from his injury. I think only if LG Twins use the break time wisely (Of course they will!), I’m sure the players would be in their best condition, and maybe even win or at least, go to the postseason. Go LG Twins! Hurray Suarez, Kelly, Kim Dae-Yoo, Ko Ooh-Suk, Jung Ooh-Young, Hong Chang-Gi, Kim Hyeon-Soo, Chae Eun-Sung, Oh Ji-Hwan, and Moon Bo-Gyeong!
