There are both pros and cons of independence. Independence holds great power and is needed for lots people. Still, like the saying "with great power comes with great responsibility" if you have independence, you should have that much management as well. Here are the reasons why.
First, if a person have too much independence, you could waste your time by playing. That is making the time disappear so easily. You should use your time very wisely, such as reading books, or even doing your homework that is due next week. Like this, there are many ways that you could use your precious time very wisely. However, we aren't mature enough to understand the basic principles of living independently. We are still very young it's hard to control the amount of the time and we could easily fall into temptation, too.
Second, he/she could become more resistant to their parents. When your parents keep give you a lot of time, you could be more arrogant. You could not listen to your parents at all. Because you are too adapted to playing, when your parents make you work, you would most likely whine a lot more. In your previous days, you didn't say no to your parents. However, because of independence, you could get attracted to freedom which will let you into big trouble, or a big clash with your parents.
Third, they could be more disconnected with your parents. When you have 10 hours of play time, you don't get to see your parents for 10 hours. That is a lot of time. As you spend time by your own, your parents, too will be working by their own. The son/daughter's relationship with their parents will turn sour.
Ultimately, independence should be reinforced and limited because immature people could have worse relationships with our parents and could waste their time very easily. Limiting independence could help a child be a better person in the future because he/she will always remember this "with great power comes with great responsibility."
