“ Ugh!” It was a horrible day for Avery because of her embarrassment at school. Avery was feeling the opposite of blissful. She hated New York city and missed her friends and especially her Abuela that was in Mexico. She laid down in her bed trying to sleep. She cried and tried to forget the terrible incident at school. She began to mope. It was not her fault that her parents became rich a few years ago. They made a business for cars and it went crazy. They thought it would be best for Avery if she went to America and learned American, visited her only twice a month even if they knew it was illegal, and left her in this sad place without asking her opinion. It was dreary in her spacious room while the screeching sound of the cars raged on. It also smelled like fresh paint, which made her dizzy. She was so thirsty she called out for her parents remembering that her parents went out for a “business trip.” After her parents became rich they started having a greed for money. That's why some days she ran to her abuela’s home. She wanted to run to her right now but she was too far away.
The next day, her parents finally came. They didn’t even greet her when she woke up. They simply just said “ Go to school or you will be late. You know how expensive that school is?”
Avery simply just couldn’t go to school. It would be a huge embarrassment. Yesterday, she had a speech competition and she simply dreaded it. Then she stuttered and all the kids laughed at her. She tried to think of an excuse when an idea popped into her head. She slid her hands to her mom's wallet and clutched on her card. She knew this was bad but she needed that money to go back. She packed her bag and pretended to go to school. Avery Johnsey ran to the closest bus stop and there she stood tapping her feet impatiently on the ground because sooner or later her parents would find out and become furious.
When the bus finally came she ran and threw herself into the front seat. The driver glared at her and asked, “ Aren't you supposed to be at school at this time?” She started to answer but stopped herself because she already knew she was a horrible liar. She barely answered “ I am going to school.” The driver didn't look convinced but he dropped the conversation. When the bus stopped at the next station a man who was dressed in all black sat in the backseat. When she looked into the mirror of the car there was something that was sliding out of his pocket. When she squinted to see closer she suddenly trembled in dismay. It was a gun!
