Avery recovered from her shock, and anxiously waited for the bus to stop but going to the next stop was going to take a long time. Right before the bus stopped the man took the gun out of his pocket and shouted “ Don’t move or I’m going to shoot!” This was exactly what Avery feared that would happen. He walked next to her and she suddenly blacked out.
When she woke up, she noticed that she wasn’t in her bed snuggling with her stuffed animals.( That was a secret. She was 14.) Then she remembered what happened in the last few hours. She felt terrified. She pretended to fall back asleep when the black man came out of nowhere and said “ Now you're awake.” She was a horrible actor so she just opened her eyes and shouted “ What do you want from me!” The man said nothing. He just left without explaining anything. When he left she tried to break free and then she noticed a key shining on the moonlight. She rolled over her back like a rolly polly and grabbed the key and freed herself. There was a door in the attic, she thought it would be locked but it was surprisingly opened. Avery drank the cold breath and started running into the cold, dark, woods. She bumped into something that felt human. It was the kidnapper! He was stuck in a piece of wood covered in foliage and had a huge gash on his shoulder. She tried to run but her curiosity knew better. She was curious about who was under the mask. She cautiously tiptoed closer to the man and when she took off the mask, she found out that it was not a he. It was a she!!! But that was not it! She took a step back and said “ Abuela?” Her vision started to become blurry and fell into a hole. She felt so dejected she started to say “ Is anyone there?” in a weak voice.
