There are many types of being courageous. Is standing up for someone and protecting them courageous? There are many examples of people being very courageous, in fact in a state in which they could do an action different from us. The example that I am going to show you is Rosa Parks.
Rosa Parks was just an ordinary woman living in Montgomery, Alabama. Because where she lived was a segregated city, African Americans, like her weren't allowed to use the same restrooms or water fountains and more and more. Rosa wasn't pleased with all. Every time she tried to use public property, the white Americans were always the first. She also saw other people who are African Americans, just like her, getting ignored by some other Americans. She thought that this needed a change. A revolution.
In 1955, Rosa boarded a bus. She sat down in the first row of the seats. However, in her hometown, Montgomery's law was that only white passengers could sit in the front rows. The bus soon became quite crowded because the front seats were taken. Some white people came in and said to Parks that only the white people can seat in the front row. If a regular person heard that word, he/she will say yes and will just go to another seat. Still, she was different from other people. Rosa didn't accept it. She said "no". She argued with the whites that every people has the right to do what they want.
Unfortunately, for Rosa Parks, the bus driver found out what just happened and called the police. Parks got arrested and was also found guilty in court. Because of Rosa Parks' heroic and courageous action, many people got inspired by her and other African Americans now knew that they were equal with white Americans. She resisted, but because of her actions, she is known to be very courageous more than normal people.
