There is a series called the Lunar Chronicles (Which I think Alice already wrote about,I am
so sorry Alice. note: not part of my actual post.) which features classic fairy tale characters as teenagers and cyborgs and more.
Cinder for example, is Cinderella, with prince Kai, Pearl and Peony, and Adri,her stepmom. She is, however part cyborg and the most talented mechanic in Beijing. When her young sister Peony, gets Letumosis, her mom ships her off to get letumosis, so doctors can inject a antidote they have made, and see if it suceeds. When doctors inject Letumosis, Cinder kills them off, which explains that she is Lunar. She was not able to unlock her gift until Dr. Erland, the main doctor damages a device on her spine that locked up her magic. At the ball prince Kai held, she is suddenly overcome by a wave of her magic and Queen Levana, the Lunar queen, yellls that she will take Cinder with her to Luna, the moon.(Luna means moon in Spanish) In the meantime,Cinder is kept in a prison cell. Doctor Erland hears this news and uses the lunar gift to get to Cinder and gives her a new hand, and foot and perhaps the most important of all.... the information that she is Princess Selene, true heir to the throne, and niece of Queen Levana.
The next book is Scarlet,Little Red Riding Hood as a 18 year old. Wolf is a part human part wolf soldiere of Luna. He is a street fighter and falls in love with Scarlet. Meanwhile, Cinder escapes from prison with Cadet Thorne and searches for Scxarlet's Grandmother, and meets Scarlet in the Process.
