Hi guys!! Today I wanted to introduce you guys to Marissa Meyer's novel(NOT the Lunar Chronicles)HEARTLESS!!! So Heartless is basically a separate novel of it's own. It's about Wonderland- Hearts, to be specific(aka the place Alice fell in??lol)- and how the Red Queen, you know, the one who yells, Off with his/her head! every single time, became so evil and violent.
The main character of this story is Catherine, Jest, Peter Peter, and the King. Catherine is the daughter of a marquess, so she is the heir to Rock Turtle Cove. But she loves baking, which her parents despise, and wants to open a bakery with Mary Ann, her servant/friend. The story begins Catherine having a dream about a lemon yellow eyed boy taking something from her, but she doesn't know what it is. She wants it back. When she woke up, she got lemon trees sprouting up her bedposts.
That day she goes to one of the King's balls- specifically, one of his black-and-white balls- with a red dress. Obviously, the King notices her and wishes her to marry him. But before the King can notice her, the new court joker shows magic tricks and tells the audience riddles. She realizes that the court joker has lemon yellow eyes. Catherine thinks that he, the court joker, was the boy in her dream. Finally, it is time for the King to make his announcement. Catherine is about to choke from her tight corset, but to make things worse, the king was going to propose to her. HER!! Luckily, Cheshire helps her and she escapes the ballroom.Suddenly, the horrifying Jabberwock appears in the windows!!!
