These two series by Rick Riordan are extremely popular. The first series was Percy Jackson. The second was The Heroes of Olympus. This post will discuss their similarities and differences.
This first series is mostly about Greek myths formed into a more modern story. It contains 5 books, The lightning thief, The sea of monsters, The titan's curse, The battle of the labyrinth, and the final book, The last olympian. The stories are told from the point of view of Percy Jackson, a son of Poseidon, the sea god. It is a first person point of view, and the chapter titles are very strange and funny, like I ACCIDENTALLY VAPORIZE MY MATHS TEACHER or I DRIVE MY DOG INTO A TREE. The number of pages hovers around the 250~350 mark.
The Heroes of Olympus is a sequel to the Percy Jackson novels. This is about Greek and Roman myths. The series also has 5 books, THE LOST HERO, THE SON OF NEPTUNE, THE MARK OF ATHENA, THE HOUSE OF HADES, and the last one, THE BLOOD OF OLYMPUS .
These books are told from various characters points of view, Percy, Jason, Annabeth, Hazel, Piper, Frank , Leo, Reyna, and Nico, bringing back some old favorites and adding new ones. The point of view changes every few chapters, and is told from a third person perspective. It does not have any chapter titles, expect for the name of the character who narrates for that chapter. It is much longer than Percy Jackson, and is about 500~600 pages long.
