Hi guys!! It's me, and I hope you're having a great day. Today, I will blog about this math question. People are confused when they see this question, because it is so simple, but all people seem to have two difference answers, 1 OR 16. I personally believe it to be 1.
People believe it to be 16 because 8 % 2 is 4, and if you multiply it with (2+2), it becomes sixteen. People who believe it to be 1 says that you have to multiply 2(2+2) first, which is 8, and divide it is 8, and it becomes 16.
According to AMS, (American Mathematical Society), "On a paralell math question, it shoud be done in the order of getting rid of the bracket first." So, it should be 1. But according to a math professor in Cornell university, on a simple natural number question like this, after you get rid of the bracket, it becomes 8 % 2 X 4, which makes the answer 16. But after seeing what is stated in the AMS, he agreed that it can be 1, and later said that "This is a question to, on purpose, create a confusion between students. Students should enjoy the actual happieness of math".
One basic math fact before I end: x%n = x/n(fraction), so if you put it like the picture up above, it is one. This is really becoming a divider of people in SNS, especially in Twitter because that's where this started.
This a sort of a meme, because with the same questions, different answers came out from different calcualtors. What is your answer??
