Slime, a hidden monster

Slime has been a very famous and popular toy for kids and adults starting from 1976 until now. It started to gain insane popularity when kids started buying and finding the feel and crunchy or jiggly sounds satisfying. Slime has become a star on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. If you tend to search the word 'slime' on YouTube, you will find millions of results. Slime also gained unbelievable popularity when idols, or a lot of stars started gaining interest in them. After a few months, some people started making their own slime at home. All you have to do is put in liquid glue, water, and then baking soda, and Renew which are the most basic ingredients of the making of slime. However, it started becoming a problem. People who wanted their slime to be more stretchy and soft put in an ingredient called Borax. This is a very dangerous ingredient and has the power to even make your hands painful and melt if unfortunate. Recently, a girl in the United States was making a home made slime and got a third degree burn on her hands due to following a YouTube step that included the use of Borax. Consequently, when she was taking a nap, she suddenly felt indescribable pain on her hands. When she opened her eyes, she saw her skin all red and burned and sort of melted. She got a third degree burn. This shocked a lot of people across the globe, and intended them to throw away slime, because even home made ones are not safe. In addition, Korean scientists found out that there is humidifier disinfectant in the substitute called Renew. This constituent has a tragic history of killing a dozen people back in the 2011, April. As a result, slime is an extremely terrifying toy that we should never touch again.

The truth is this reaction and burning sensation only happens to people who have skin reactions or allergies to Boric acid. I have been using borax for 7 years and nothing happened to me. Borax doesn't absorb skin so its fine. You just have to ask a medical doctor if you are safe to use borax.

Renue is a brand name, and one of its products is a humidifier disinfectant - it's like Hershey's. Hershey's makes chocolate but also ice cream. The lenses are reportedly safe.
